Flood Bulletins & Advisories issued by the Flood Forecasting Division
| Flood Advisory — HIGH FLOOD LEVEL |
| River Chenab |
| Issued: 22 Jul 2026 17:18 PST | Valid: Next 6–8 hours | Issued by: Flood Forecasting Division, PMD |
High flood level is expected to persist in River Chenab during the next 6–8 hours before gradually receding as rainfall over the major catchments continues to decrease.
| What | Heavy rainfall observed from the latest hydro-meteorological conditions and Sialkot weather radar over the River Chenab catchment has resulted in high flood conditions. Rainfall has now decreased across the major sub-catchments and river flows are expected to remain high for the next 6–8 hours before gradually decreasing. |
| Where | River Chenab and its upper catchment areas influenced by recent heavy rainfall. |
| When | Issued on 22 Jul 2026 at 17:18 PST. High flows are expected to persist for the next 6–8 hours at Marala, followed by a gradual recession if current rainfall trends continue. |
Expected Impacts
| Sector | Expected impact |
|---|---|
| Rivers & reaches | River Chenab at Marala is expected to remain at high flood level during the next 6–8 hours. Water levels are expected to gradually recede thereafter as rainfall continues to weaken over the catchment. Khanki and Qadirabad are also expected to attain high flood level during the next 10–18 hours. |
| Communities & population | Riverine (kacha) areas adjacent to the river may experience hazardous conditions. Public movement near riverbanks and flood-prone locations should be minimized while high flows persist. |
| Agriculture & livestock | Standing crops, fodder fields and livestock located within low-lying floodplain areas may remain exposed to inundation until river levels begin to recede. |
| Infrastructure & transport | Low-lying roads, river crossings, embankment approaches and transport routes close to the river may experience localized disruption while high flows continue. |
Recommended Actions
FFD will continue close monitoring of hydro-meteorological conditions, river flows and weather radar observations, and will issue updates if conditions change.
Provincial and district authorities, irrigation departments and other stakeholders should maintain enhanced monitoring of river conditions and official forecasts.
Advisory only — evacuation, rescue and relief decisions rest with NDMA/PDMA and the district administrations.
Affected areas: River Chenab and adjoining riverine areas influenced by recent heavy rainfall over the upper catchment.
